Overcoming Imposter Syndrome
Remember, if there are times that you are really fixated on a negative thought or over-analysing something you have said or done, you can try the technique of feedforward, where you focus on what you can learn from where you are and how to make improvements in the future. For example, you can ask yourself:
What can I do or think next time I am in this situation?
If this was happening to someone else, how would I help them see the lesson in this?
If I was my most confident self, what would I do/feel/think?
Focusing on what you can control (future actions, thoughts and behaviours) helps you move forward in a positive way, rather than staying stuck in the current situation and thought-patterns.
